Litter picking for 2023

The Parish Council is hoping to build on great work already done in the Parish – including by the school – and get involved in litter picking early in 2023. Some parents have already expressed an interest in taking part with their young ones which is great. It’s likely that we will do this activity under ‘Keep Britain Tidy’s “#litterheroes” banner together with thousands of groups and individuals all over the UK. This initiative asks litter pickers to record the quantity and types of litter collected to build up a national picture of the rubbish problem in our towns, cities and villages and has a wealth of experience and great social media resources to keep litter pickers engaged and interested.
In the short term, we’re planning to talk to the school and other local people with experience of collecting litter to make sure we learn from their experience and avoid duplicating effort or re-inventing the wheel!
If you’d like to take part in occasional litter picking missions in the new year, please email our Parish Council Clerk Caroline clerk@lamertonparishcouncil.gov.uk with “Litter picking” in the subject line. Children will need to be accompanied by a parent or adult carer. When we’ve worked out the details we’ll email interested people and put out an update in our Parish Council Newsletter early in the new year.
